Is this gonna be you?

Dead Bugs (The new and improved plank?)

You may think dead bugs are easy...lying on the floor to workout doesn’t exactly come across as "working out". You might sleep on dead bugs but dead bugs most defiantly wont sleep on your abs.

Whys is this? Well keeping your exercise simple might give you a better bang for your buck.

Your core is the base to your body, you use your core to get out of bed, walk the dog, mix your cookies and so on. Building a strong core will help you improve the risk of back pain, fatigue and muscle injury.

How do you do a dead bug?

  1. Lie on your back with your arms straight above your shoulders

  2. Bring your legs into tabletop

  3. Keeping your arms straight, stable and strong, alternate lowering and lifting each leg, ensuring your lower back remains squeezed to the floor.

Working towards 3 sets of 5 reps should be sufficient, If you want to make the move harder, try gripping a resistance band between both hands. Or, add in weighted ankle straps or a dumbbell.

What not to do when you're attempting a dead bug

  • Do not rush through this exercise, you'll get the best results when working slow and steady.

  • The same goes for breathing: inhale, slowly, through your nose. Exhale slowly through your mouth.

  • Focus on keeping your back on the floor

Get your sweat on and tell me how your dead bug life is going!!
